Katsuya Watanabe and David Johnson close Poem with Madsen’s three-movement Sonata for Oboe and Piano, Op. 22. Recorded in Berlin’s Jesus-Christus-Kirche in January and February 2012, the programme also includes Marina Dranishnikova, Charles Fargues, Saint-Saëns and Bozza. Reviewing Poem alongside two other Watanabe albums in 2016, MusicWeb International’s Michael Cookson praised the oboist’s consistency and finesse across the series, and the pianists’ contributions. The physical album dates from 2012; the linked digital edition was released in March 2014. [1] [2] [3]
